Hands-on-Experience with Bone-conduction Headphones

Bone-conduction

Bone-conduction headphone is not a new trend, but it was a new experience to me. I got hands on experience with AfterShokz¬†wireless bone conduction headphones. Now these headphones doesn’t work like traditional way of Ear-insert headphones or over-the-ear headphones.

They can just placed besides the ear, where transducers guide mini vibrations to pass through the cheek bones to the inner-ears, delivering sound without covering your ears.

In a Image, you can clearly see that they are placed exactly besides the ear, but not covered it. Still producing sound.

Now a question can raise, whether it is safe to use? Answer is yes, as they protect your ears from damage.¬†Deborah Price, a doctor of audiology and vice-chair of the Audiology Foundation of America, told Wired in 2004 that bone conduction is “very safe”

Now this bonephones as they called it, are using technology called as premium pitch. It travels through your bones, still produce fine tuned sound. Another addition to feature is sweat resistant and Leakslayer which helps to compare to traditional headphones. bone-conduction leaks layer works on the noise cancellation which will be more for open ear listening experience.

There is also comfort and situational awareness using these headphones. Also, to be thing mentioned for bass lovers, it may not be the best choice you have in the market. As there is bass drop down while listening.

Also, when I increased volume, it was transmitting very clear sound with the lateralization, which is stereo separation. It creating the illusions that the sound coming from different locations which was confirmed by the scientists from Georgia Institute of Technology that lateralization can be heard as much as it can heard by traditional headphones. But overall experience was awesome.

In the meantime, bone-conduction headphones serve as a perfectly viable alternative for headphone users who are concerned about potential hearing damage caused by ear buds.

Now those who want to buy this piece of technology, is available with wired and wireless versions starting from 3000/-
