Asus R7 240 is the low end Graphic card from AMD. R7 240 and R7 250 Graphic card lies in the entry level category of Radeon Graphics. Comparing the specifications of both the GPUs, there is difference in clock speed. R7 250 is having higher clock speed of 1 GHz, whereas R7 240 is running at 780 MHz.

AMD R7 series is based on 28 nm GCN architecture. It supports new level APIs like DirectX 12, Mantle, OpenGL 4.3 and OpenCL. AMD R7 240 consist of 320 Radeon cores which is used for rendering, Animation and Gaming. In addition to the Number of Radeon Cores, VRAM is also important. Asus R7 240 is offering 2 GB GDDR3 Graphics memory for High end Graphics applications for smooth performance.
Asus R7 240 also features Radeon features such as ZeroCore technology, powertune technology for less power consumption. Also, in addition to this power saving features, there is one more new feature added in recent AMD Graphic card know as Frame Rate Target Control. This limits the number of Frame rates for DirectX 9 Games which is running over 60 Fps to make it visually much better and thus saving power consumption.

There is no power connector as it requires only 300 W power supply, but suggesting a better SMPS upto 500 W. There is 1 X VGA, 1 X HDMI and 1 X DVI-D Display port s available. This number of ports will help in setting up Eyefinity display.

GPU tweak helps to tweak the GPU’s clock speed and voltage. But it is to be done at your own risk. Increasing High voltage and speed can even damage your card.
I recommended this Graphic card to one of my colleague for Rendering in 3D Max where he found rendering time was much faster compared to only CPU and Integrated GPU. with OpenCL and DirectX API, the rendering time can be lower compared to CPU. The Quality of the rendering output is much high as compared to one which is rendered on CPU. High end CPU can also perform better. But GPU can perform many floating point operations which is needed in rendering.
