AMD A10 7890K is the fastest APU built ever by AMD. The Theoretical performance of this APU is 1.02 Tera Flops. Flops is the unit measure for computing floating point performance of the computing device.

In this year, AMD is releasing their Zen Architecture based CPUs and APUs. But before releasing their new CPU, they are releasing their best APUs. A10 7890k is the APU which is built on the Steamroller architecture. The stock speed of CPU is 4.1 GHz and the Turbo clock speed is 4.3 GHz. This new processor is been paired with new Wraith cooler. It can deliver best in class online gaming performance. This class of APUs can provide best online gaming in high settings. Games like Dota 2, League of Legends and Counter Strike: global offensive.

AMD APUs can combine the CPU power with the Discrete Radeon R7 graphics in a single chip. It supports DirectX 12, OpenGL, vulkan and Freesync.

Steamroller Architecture is the 3rd generation bulldozer core architecture. with every iteration from bulldozer architecture, they have improved the performance of processor by increasing Instruction Per Cycle by 15%. As the IPC increases, there is only improvement in the timing of the workloads. But the efficiency is not getting maintained in these CPUs.  So, there is a need of Zen Architecture based CPUs and APUs.

But, I am happy for one improvement that AMD would have done many years ago, the stock CPU cooler. And they have find a solution by introducing Wraith cooler.

with this A10 7890K APU, Athlon X4 880K processor is launched by AMD. This is the fastest Athlon CPU made by AMD with 4.2 GHz maximum turbo frequency. If you want more CPU power from your processor, then Athlon is the right choice and it will deliver more CPU performance. As the CPU performance is better, it can handle more frame rates with 1440p and 4k resolution.

The new AMD A10-7890K and Athlon X4 880K processors and thermal solutions, and the AMD A10-7870K with its new 125W Thermal Solution, are planned to be available for sale at the end of March 2016 at select retailers/e-tailers and participating system vendors.

Suggested price as of March 1, 2016 :

  • AMD A10-7890K – $164.99 USD
  • AMD A10-7870K – $139.99 USD
  • AMD Athlon X4 880K – $94.99 USD
